About me
Hello and welcome to this wondrous space,
I am Tatjana, a german artist living and working in the south of Germany.
I work with embroidery and mixed media. My work is abstract with layers, textures and patterns. I love to find inspiration in nature, on hikes in the mountains, in the forest of my hometown or on a distant beach. Travelling and exploring different cultures are an endless source for my inspiration, shapes, lines and color. I am drawn to exploring the beauty in the details of the everyday life. My goal is to share the feeling of wonder with those who engage with my art and invite you to find a little piece of yourself in this whimsical world of curiosity.
My background is in fashion design and pattern making and I am working as an apparel product developer in my dayjob. My daily work is quite far away from abstraction, most times it is actually very specific. My abstact explorations allow me to step outside and into a different world of playfulness and experimetation, of curiosity and wonder. And that is what I hope for the viewer to find in my art.
Textiles are my first love. And I am lucky I got to explore so many different facets of them - handsew haute couture gowns with crystal embroidery, a deep dive into knitwear, pattern construction for every kind of fabric, from a coat to a running short and to a very basic t-shirt (and who knew that a t-shirt can be the most tricky pattern to figure out). My abstract embroidery explorations are yet another facet that I am exploring. I like the idea that embroidery can stand on it‘s own, not following the purpuse of decorating a garment or a homewear piece. Diving into the slow progress of following the needle’s journey and patiently exploring all it‘s traces. I invite you to discover and take a closer look through my imaginary textile-scapes.
